Jonathan Rose DesignsGarden benches
This was an unexpected commission from a client with a city garden. The garden was receiving a makeover and the walled corner was ready for some furniture. The design process for this piece was involved some great interaction from the client. Jonathan worked through many ideas and sketches with the client: often the preferred solution is not visible until some ideas have been rejected. Pencils, crayons and felt tip pens were used, with of course plenty of paper.
In the end, this four seat piece built from elm felt right and Jonathan went ahead with the project. Woodschool near Jedburgh made the piece as a trial commission with elm supplied by Jonathan from Gardenstown.
It is pictured here in a warm and inviting Aberdeen summer.
